Refurbishment of the Departures Road which is an elevated bridge structure located over the Arrival’s Hall at Dublin Airport Terminal 1. The structure had been ‘leaking’ for a number of years, allowing water penetration into the Arrival’s hall below. All footpaths, kerbs, screeds, signage, services, road make up and existing pitch deck waterproofing were removed back down to the original bridge deck level as part of the works. New bridge deck expansion joints were installed, MMA deck waterproofing laid, new surface and sub-surface drainage, and reconfigured footpath & carriageway layout. A high number of commercial businesses (e.g. Bank of Ireland, car-hire companies, gastro pub etc.) and DAA operations (airport police, VIP car parking, DAA information desks, plant rooms, ESB sub-station etc.) are located under the Departures Road both within & outside of the arrival’s hall and had to be protected against water ingress during construction. The works also included concrete repairs to the parapet walls, bridge beam soffits & cross-head beams, painting of the parapet walls, installation of new stainless steel handrails, new pedestrian crossing, bollards, trolley bays and way-finding signage.
