Environmental & Sustainability

At Kilwex we strive to operate sustainably to leave a positive lasting legacy for the people we work with, the communities we work in, and the world in which we operate. Each Kilwex project is assessed and where possible sustainable solutions are applied to minimise waste, reuse materials and careful engineer solutions to reduce waste and imported materials.

Kilwex have addressed the sustainability risks and opportunities facing our business by having a clearly defined strategy and taking appropriate steps to mitigate any negative impacts and enhance positive sustainability impacts. Our Sustainability Strategy is directly aligned with the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), the 17 interconnected global goals that aim to address the global challenges facing humanity such as climate change, inequality, poverty, hunger, education and justice.

Adopting the principle of ‘Think Global, Act Local’, Kilwex have identified 11 specific SDGs that our business can directly impact across four key focus areas:

Environment & Climate Change

Kilwex minimises our environmental impact and the carbon footprint of our operations to ensure the long-term sustainability of the infrastructure and services we provide. As an ISO-14001 certified company, our environmental management system supports our projects to ensure that we continually consider our environmental impacts.

Our Carbon Transition Plan provides a framework to decarbonisation and monitoring and measuring our progress to NetZero. Kilwex aim to be carbon neutral by 2032 and achieve carbon net zero by 2036. Read more here.

People and Health and Safety

The wellbeing of every person who works on our sites and those affected by our work is our top priority. We prioritise the protection of human rights, including the prevention of modern-day slavery and the promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Social Value and Community Matters

We aim to make a positive impact in the communities where we work, minimising impacts during construction works and creating social value by contributing to local communities.

Supply Chain

Our approach with our supply chain is to work collaboratively to meet our sustainability goals, ensuring that procurement is ethically sourced at all times.
