To mark Men’s Health Week, Kilwex delivered a number of wellbeing initiatives across our sites, focused on promoting mental health awareness, physical wellbeing and a positive safety culture.
In line with this year’s campaign theme of “One Step at a Time”, we encouraged our teams to focus on small but important actions that can support better health and wellbeing, both on site and beyond.
Throughout the week, our initiatives included:
🍎 Health Promotion Across Sites
We kicked off the campaign by providing fresh fruit, healthy snacks and drinks to site staff, supporting positive wellbeing and encouraging healthier food choices.
☀️ SunSmart Safety Campaign
Our SunSmart campaign for outdoor workers included interactive toolbox talks and sunscreen stations established across our sites, helping to raise awareness of sun safety while working outdoors.
💬 Wellbeing Awareness
We continued to encourage open conversations around mental health, resilience and the importance of checking in with colleagues. We also promoted the support available through our in-house Mental Health First Aiders and the Lighthouse Charity.
👷♂️ Key Event: Mental Health General Awareness Workshop at Dublin Port
The key event of the week was our Mental Health General Awareness Workshop held at Dublin Port, delivered by Finian Murray from Mental Health Forum in Ireland, through Cairde.
A full site standdown was held to allow all colleagues to attend the workshop, which focused on supporting construction workers to create a mental fitness culture, actively promote and support men’s mental health and resilience, and help reduce the risk of suicide.
Mental health is just as important as physical safety, and this workshop was an important reminder that looking out for ourselves and each other must remain part of everyday site culture.
