This project involved widening of the existing carriageway, which links the M50 to Dundrum Town Centre, from a two-lane to a four-lane carriageway. The work involved road construction, bridge construction as well as new footpaths and cycle tracks. It also entailed a significant element of diversion of existing utilities as well as new drainage, water, gas and ducted services. New traffic signal systems and public lighting were also installed.
Traffic management, both vehicular and pedestrian, dictated the phasing and programming of the project. In this regard Kilwex Ltd designed and implemented a multi-phased traffic management system together with a detailed programme to construct the works safely, efficiently and with the minimum disruption to road users, businesses and local residents.
